ASIFA HELLAS, the Hellenic Animation Association, started its operation more than 10 years ago as an informal grouping. Aiming at promoting Hellenic animation art.
In 2015 it gained legal personality as a not-for-profit civil society, seated in Athens (GR). Comprises the Hellenic national chapter of Association International d’ Film d’ Animation.
Represents globally the professional community of Hellenic Animation and closely collaborates with the Hellenic Government (Ministry of Culture, ΕΚKΟΜΕD, Enterprise Greece, Athens Film Office, Hellenic Broadcasting Corporation – ERT, Television Station of the Hellenic Parliament – Vouli TV and others) in several actions.
Since 2023 “Moving Forward” has been the country’s national brand, promoting globally Hellenic animation talents and industry development. ASIFA HELLAS operates the website and social media pages informing on new developments concerning Hellenic Animation.










Irida Zhonga is an award winning director and
Dimitris Savvaidis from Thessaloniki realized he wanted to tell stories and discovered comics and animation. Since 2005, he has been publishing in various Greek comic magazines, and albums collaborating with a number of artists and exhibiting his work both in the country and abroad. Teaching in Greece and abroad since 2003, he focuses on scriptwriting, storytelling, comics, and animation. He participated, alongside Valentina Karga, in the Biennale of Young Artists in Moscow (ABRACATABRA) and in the Biennale of Thailand (Kabri) in 2018. He is the founder of the annual TAF (Thessaloniki Animation Festival), proudly continuing since 2015. In 2014, he and his brother founded AddArt/Funny Tales, a multi awarded and one of the largest animation studios in Greece, producing animated series, short films and features. Some of their collaborations include FOX, Disney+, studio SUZA in Belgium. The studio takes part in co-productions with Japan, US, UK, Ireland, France and Canada. Finally he is on the board of ASIFA HELLAS the Greek Animation Association focusing on helping the Greek industry of animation to thrive.
Fokion is a Director/ Designer and VFX artist from Athens, Greece. As an animation filmmaker he is interested in playful and bold stories that focus on visual wit and emotional honesty. As a Designer director with a particular emphasis on colour and form he is very keen into combining practical and digital techniques to create unique emerging visuals. His MA graduation film “Heatwave”, produced at the National Film and Television School, premiered in Annecy and has been screened in more than 120 festrivals worldwide. The film has been awarded 32 times around the globe (Norman Mc Lauren Award / Edinburgh Int. Film Festival, Best international Short film / Cinekid, Animasyros / Best International student film and many others) . “Heatwave” has also been awarded Royal Television Society award for best animation as well as it has been shortlisted for the Student BAFTA LA for best animation short.
Post Doc Researcher in the field of Extended Reality and Doctor (PhD) in the fields of animation and open and distance learning in University of West Attica (UniWA). She has a Master of science (Msc) in Comparative education, NKUA and Msc in Cultural Organizations’ Management, Hellenic Open University (HOU). Journal Manager in the scientific- open access- e- journal, Animation Film Interactive Media in Education and Culture.
